Norton internet security 2009 antibot

Would like adblocking also in Norton Add-on because there are many sites that is infected thru ads e. NAB requires no signatures aka definitions because it is based on behaviour of the processes, files and whatever is running and active modules or components in the system. Norton Antivirus has signatures which means if it is in the signature.. I'm Opera user which has feature to block ads also but adblocking by Norton is more easier.

No need to block that, block this. Disable that. Disable this. I have FF installed also and I'm using noscript etc for it. If Norton's adblocking scripts, banners, etc will help for all browsers.. But I guess the main reason why it isn't installed at the moment is the fact that all browser do have it installed. Maybe if we scream a lot over here it will help ;. I think it's good to have Antibot and the like.

NAB is using acceptable memory. Don't want to see it in action though :. Back to top. Stu Guru Norton Fighter Reg: Apr Kudos 0. What is your opinion on Norton Antibot? Do you think it is needed? If you still would like to continue to use Norton AntiBot, you can reinstall it after you install your Norton product.

I'm still don't think this is a real answer to a simple question. It has some vague references, like: "Some of the features may be redundant, but you would have two layers of Bot Protection if you installed both products. But under bit Windows, how redundant is AntiBot? Sure an extra layer of protection is nice, but if that extra layer is redundant security, like in the sense that SONAR does the same thing in the same way as AntiBot does, then there's really no point in adding AntiBot.

Also some people of Symantec say that AntiBot is completely unnecessary and therefor redundant to install on bit systems with NIS, while other people from Symantec say that there is some redundant functionality but AntiBot does provide extra security because it does extra things that SONAR doesn't.

If so, is it easy to recognize that there is a conflict? A fix for this issue has not been released yet. Installing the products on the same system still may cause errors, which is why the block is in place. You may be able to run them together on your system without any problems, but we certainly don't recommend this, for the reasons stated in Dave's previous post.

I'm extremely hesitant on installing it right now using NIS This may be an old discussion, but I want to clarify: if I have a clean bit system it makes no sense any discussion about using AB as NIS will prevent any malware to enter my system in the first place making AB irrelevant even if it has some different approaches to detect the threats.

Is this asumption correct? I ask this question on the basis of the assertion by davecole: "note that this was with intrusion prevention turned off, which would have blocked all of the threats from penetrating the system and thus would not have exercised SONAR vs.

NAB, making the test pretty irrelevant ". You can be confident that NIS09 will protect you. I think, this difference makes it non-accessible for Norton Removal tool as the tool was designed to remove only certain Norton programs developed by Symantec.

The following programs recommended by Symantec can be installed with Norton Internet Security Since Norton Antibot doesn't come under this list, it may create conflicts with Norton Internet Security You are lucky enough for not having any such conflicts till now.

As far as it works without conflicting each other, no need to worry. That is why I recommend ThreatFire, which is free and does not conflict and has better detection than AntiBot. I've read through all the posts in this thread, and I'm much less confused now than I was earlier - so I want to thank everyone for their posts. However my situation was somewhat different, because Norton Internet Security installed just fine with AntiBot already installed - no warnings or notices of any kind, however upon reboot NIS wouldn't run at all!

I looked at the Windows Task Manager to see if anything was happening in there, trying to figure out what was going on, but nothing. It appeared that NIS was completely inoperative, dead in the water. However, AntiBot was humming along just fine.

Temporarily disabling AntiBot made no difference, which had me worried. Anyway my earlier problem was not caused by something like installing under one account and running under another, if that would make any difference some apps, it does - nothing like that.

Anyway, what prompted me to find this forum, and this thread, was to see if I even actually needed AntiBot or not, with NIS , and it appears now that I probably don't need AntiBot.
